second day

The second day of our trip we covered alot of ground. First we headed out west on route 66 to see the Acoma Sky City on a reservation about and hour from Alburquerque. On our way back we stopped at the Route 66 Hotel and Casino and had their lunch buffet. As soon as we got back to Alburquerque we went to Old Town where they have a lot of nice shops and also people spread their stuff on the sidewalk and sell it that way. After we left there we came upon a vineyard that was having a taste testing open to the public. We stopped in and looked the place over but didnt taste the wine simply because I dont like wine and it was so crowded my husband decided against it to. We were going to a restuarant called Barelas Coffee House. We had been told that they have really good mexican food and our son wanted us to bring him some chile verde but when we got down there they were closed. What a bummer. We ended up just grabbing a hamburger. We will be heading home in the morning. These little trips are fun but its always nice to go home. We usually dont do anything over the 4th of July week-end but this was fun for a change.

New Mexico trip

Thursday July 3rd we left Vernal at noon on our way to Albuquerque New Mexico. We went over Douglas pass to I-70 and then on to Moab. From there on to Cortez Colo. and on to Durango. We were going to stay there that night but since there was still daylight we deciced to go on. We went on as far as Cuba New Mexico and spent the night there. We were only 89 miles from Albuquerque but it was 10:00 pm and we were tired. The next morning, bright and early we made our way on to Albuquerque and had breakfast at the Sandia Hotel and Casino. It was a really nice place only three miles from our motel.Ill try to put some pictures up. After we relaxed for a while we deciced to follow the Torquise Trail. It took us into mining towns and some really quaint little shops. Quaint and very high priced. We ended up in Santa Fe. We made it back to Albuquerque and decided we had had enough riding for the day so we just chilled out the rest of the day. We spent the evening at the Casino and of course I had to play a little Blackjack.I cant even say I had fun giving my money away because they took it so fast. Well Im going to end this here for today and see if I can put some pictures up here. The saga will continue in a day or two.

First Post

Well, here we go. I wasnt sure about this but my daughter convinced me to blog. I said I didnt think I had very much to say people would be interested in, but we will see. I retired in 2004 after owning and running a small cafe and country store for 24 years. About 6 months later my husband retired to. We got caught up on a few things around the house and then decided we needed to have some fun. Our first trip was to Las Vegas and we had a ball. I even got to see a friend of mine that had been my best friend all through high school. I hadnt seen her in quite a few years. Over the next two years we went to a number of places. Denver, phoenix, Seattle, San Francisco, two more trips to vegas, and numerous trips to Wendover and Jackpot Nevada.I guess retirement just got to be to much for my husband because he went back to work in 2007. He says he is going to retire again next spring but the kids and I are taking bets on that one. We just took a little trip but I will blog about it later after my daughter shows me how to put pictures on here. Im computer illerate so have to be shown. Well this is it for the first time. Im sure i will have much more to say later.
