The Rest of Our Trip

My husband is an early bird so we got up in Alburquerque and went to the Sandia Hotel and Casino for their breakfast buffet. It is one of the best we have found.Especially if you like Mexican food. After breakfast we headed toward Santa Fe.We had heard about a church with a beautiful staircase that was famous and had a great story behind it, so we wanted to see it. It is the Loretto Chapel and it was beautiful. I will tell you the story behind it. It was built in the 1800s. It had a loft for the choir but no way to get to the loft from the inside. They had carpenters come in to see if they could built a staircase but they all said no, it would take up to much room in the chapel. The sisters started praying for guidance and on the 9th day, a man showed up on a donkey with a hammer, carpenters square,a saw, and tubs to soak the wood in. This beautiful spiral staircase has no center support and is not held from the sides. When the job was done the carpenter disappeared without seeking payment. The whole chapel was beautiful. Here are a few pictures.

After we left the church we went through some of the gift shops and art galleries before leaving.
We then headed toward Bandalier National Park. We had to do alot of walking to see the cliff dwellings but it was great.I even got brave enough to climb up into one. I hate heights so about half way up I kept thinking I was crazy but I did it.

When we left there we headed toward home. We spent the night in Durango Colorado and then made it on home the next day. We had a great time and cant wait for the next trip.

Our Trip

My Husband had a weeks vacation so we decided to take a little trip. We were going to head east, but with the weather the way it has been , we decided to head south so we ended up in Las Vegas for a couple of days. One day while we were there, we went to Indian Springs, about 40 miles out of Las Vegas to see my best friend from high school. We email each other now but we went years and didnt hear from each other, and then got back in touch again. Its nice to have a friend like that. No matter how long it has been we still love each other like sisters. After a couple of days we headed east through Arizona. We went over Hoover dam but they are building a bridge over the river so they can keep people off the dam. It is quite an undertaking. We went all the way across Arizona through Kingman, Flagstaff, and ended up in Alberquerque, New Mexico where we spent the night. Here are a few pictures of the first leg of our trip. Ill blog about what we saw in New Mexico in a day or two.My husband eating his footlong hotdog from slots of fun.

These are some places we saw going across Arizona. We bought some beautiful pottery along the way.
We went by the petrified forest and this is a petrified log. They were laying everywhere.
