Wedding Shopping

We were going out to the scrapbook expo on Friday so we went out on Thursday because Brandi wanted to do some shopping for her upcoming wedding. She had a lot of places to go and alot of things she wanted to get done and out of the way. Her Grandma Reeves and a couple of her Aunts met us for dinner and then we were back at it. I think we did really well because she got a lot accomplished. As the night wore on the girls got silly and started trying on hats. I snapped a few pictures that turned out really cute. By the time we got up to her Grandmas where we were staying it was about eleven. We of course had to bring everything inside to show everyone. It was about 1:30 before we got to bed and had to be up the next morning for the expo. Ill blog on that later. You know how after you have been up for a long time and everything seems funny to you. Well thats what happened to us so here are a few pictures.

The Gaurd Dog

My sister-in-law who we just visited in Washington has two of the cutest weener dogs you have ever seen. Newt the male they have had for a long time but Brandy the girl has only been theirs for about nine months. well this is mostly going to be about Newt. He is the fiercest little gaurd dog you have ever seen. They have small garter snakes up there and Newt hates them with a passion. He goes out four or five times a day and with his nose right to the ground he sniffs out the perimeter of the back yard. He is very diligent in this because nothing is going to breach the boundaries of what he considers his. He doesnt eat the snakes but he has been known to tear them apart. When he is not outside keeping gaurd over his property he is setting on top of the sofa watching out the picture window. Nothing is going to get by him. When there arent any snakes around hes been known to tree a chipmunk or two.Brandy doesnt mind not having to chase wild animals. She will leave that all up to Newt very happily.

Trip down the coast

We left my sister-in-laws early wed. morning. We went as far as Longview Washington and then went over to the coast. We did some shopping in Lincoln City and Depoe Bay. They really have some nice gift shops there. We saw the sea lion caves and stopped and walked on the beach a couple of times.I love the sound, the smell, and the feel of the ocean air. Its invigorating. We made our way as far as Brookings Oregon where we spent thenight. We found a place that had some really good clam chowder. We were only 30 miles from the Calif. border so it didnt take us to long to get to the redwoods. Those are some big trees. I took some great pictures. We went through some wine country and made our way to San Francisco. We crossed the Golden Gate bridge and went straight to Fishermans Wharf. We spent a couple hours there and then decided to go on. The guys decided they would like to get home Saturday so they would have a day of rest before going to work on Monday. We spent Thurs, night in Stockton. Calif. and then made our way to Winnemucca Nev. where we spent the night with my husbands nephew and his wife. We got home Sat. about 5:00. We really had a fun vacation but there really is no place like home.

A day in Seattle

Tuesday was going to be our last day in Washington, so we decided to spend it in Seattle. We got up and went back to the Red Wind Casino for their breakfast buffet. They didnt have crab legs this time but what a breakfast it was. We then headed for Seattle. When we got there we decided to go to Pikes Market first. Walking there we saw a totum pole made out of motorcycle parts. It was pretty cool. At the market you can get about anything that you want. We spent a couple of hours there. We then bought tickets for a cruise around the bay and to see the aquarium. The cruise was really a lot of fun. We saw a lot of sea lions and actually saw one catch a samon. When we got back on shore, we went to the aquarium. We had been there before with my brother and sister-in-law but we wanted to see it again. After that it was time for dinner. We went to the crab pot where they steam crab legs, clams, mussels, shrinp, some kind of sausage, and potatoes and corn on the cob. Then they just dump it all on the table and you dig in.After thatwe headed home. We really had a nice day. My sister-in-law really showed us a nice time. Depending on when they are transferred we might even be able to squeeze in one more trip up there. We have five days to make it home so we are coming down the coast to San Francisco, so I will blog about that later. Here are a few of the pictures I took.

Vacation

On August 28th we started our vacation by leaving here at noon and driving as far as Jackpot Nevada where we spent the night. The next day we made it all the way to Yelm Washington to see my husbands sister. Its a small town about 30 miles south of Seattle. We had been up there before but they might be transfered back to Salt Lake so we wanted to go back up one more time. They have a beautiful place and will hate to have to sell it.The first day there we just did some shopping around Yelm. It has really grown since we were last there. Sunday morning we got up and went to a casino about 5 miles from their place to the breakfast buffet. They had all you could eat crab legs. Some would say there not for breakfast but we loved them. We made little pigs out of our selves. Afterward we took a drive towards Mt Rainier but it was snowing up high so couldnt make it all the way. We stopped at a place called Copper Kettle Inn and had a piece of homemade blackberry pie alamode. Delicious. On the way back down the mountain we stopped at a place called Northwest Trek. They put you on a train and take you through a wildlife preserve. It was fun. Monday we just stayed home and my son helped them cut some trees and do some work in their yard.Tuesday we are going into Seattle and spend the day so I will blog about that later.
